Orange Shirt Day

This year’s Orange Shirt Day was full of learning, remembrance, and hope at RLG. In the morning, students viewed programming provided by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation while they designed personalized Orange T-shirts to wear throughout the day.

At noon students and staff gathered for a BBQ lunch and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside. A smudge was conducted in the RLG field for anyone who wished to participate. Mrs. Keffer shared her teachings of the sacred medicines as we reflected upon seeing in a good way, feeling in a good way, and walking in a good way.

After some ice cream and a bit of multi-grade outdoor play, we reconvened at the front of the school to observe a minute of silence for those affected by residential schools, and those who did not come home.

Staff and students then walked the town of Sprague displaying their orange shirts and reflecting upon the day. Overall, we had a great day of fellowship and learning, the students and staff of RLG have much to be proud of, and so much more to learn.
